Glenbrook Lagoon, Glenbrook, in the lower Blue Mountains of NSW

Glenbrook Lagoon, Glenbrook, is an upland wetland and is the only natural body of water in the Blue Mountains. There are only 3 like this in the Hawkesbury-Nepean Area. Because it is unique to the Lower Blue Mounatins it has flora and fauna that is not found anywhere else locally so it is a great place to photograph. The Lagoon is a favourite for young children who feed the ducks, joggers and walkers. It is a great place to take photographs in the morning and the evening. It can be accessed by all roads around the Lagoon and it is about 1.3km from Glenbrook Station.

Photographing Around Glenbrook Lagoon

The photographs of Glenbrook Lagoon were taken early in the morning and in the afternoon the sun in the morning has a tendency to give a glowing light to the foliage while the afternoon sun give a sharper light. The photo was taken on the easter side in the morning.

Glenbrook Lagoon and the surrounding area take up approximately 12 hectares of which 7 hectares is water. It is an easy walk to get around and has a great variety of scenery to photograph. This photograph was taken on the southern side in the afternoon.

I loved the way the light flickered through the leaves and the shadow the tree on the left gave when I looked at this  scene it helped give the feel of dimension and interest into the background light. This photograph was taken on the eastern side of Glenbrook Lagoon in the late afternoon.

Here I have come around to the northern side of Glenbrook Lagoon the sun is to my right and it is the place to be in the afternoon to capture the water and the lengthening shadows. It is the forested side with walks through the trees and if I went about 10 metres to my left in this photos I could feed the ducks.
